yearning for daylight and walking

rare moments of daylight: around 8.30 am in downtown

the night shifts have taken my spare time capture. the few hours i have are spent in the dark, the only daylight i see is in the morning before i have to descent into the underground metro world again or hide in the bus to drop into bed after coming home. when i wake up it's of course dark again! so it's not safe to go for walks in my neighborhood - as walking is uncool even during daylight but at least would be worth trying.

lovely buckhead area: street cafe at lindbergh metro station

so what i miss the most is movement. the three inches i move between house - bus - metro - cnn - metro - bus - house is not half the distance that i cover walking to college in athens - one way. so one of the best treats i had lately was a walk in the lovely buckhead area where a newly made friend of mine lives. there are sidewalks and the area is well-lit in the evening. the city could even save energy since the residents have adorned their houses with so many tiny lightbulbs in a friendly competitioin to have the most dazzling christmas decoration that no further light is needed.

chrismassy in ohio: gorgeous tree

the funkiest element in the front yards: a snowman turned glassy robot in the shape of a calculator. with the new cold settling in atlanta - we've had 7°F the last couple days er i mean nights i got an inkling of christmas feeling. but i got quite jealous when i saw the inchthick blanket of snow that covers the cleveland area! that's 100% christmassy with just the glistening effect of nature.
